Seahorse 462 DUCK "ICE"

I tell ya, one of the best parts of my bidness is the people I get to meet. Don & Margie are a case in point. Here's a letter I just got from them, telling us about their new 462 DUCK and their voyage plans. Yes indeed.... After a few cocktails I could likely try out the flying anphibian (photo below) but duplicating Captain Bligh's 4,000 trip in an open skiff? I'll pass on that....

Hope you are well...we are very excited...we have our boat in the water and are quite happy...Bill and his team are doing a good job so I am confident we will get what we hoped for at the end of the day.

I know you are the master of simplicity and believe me, I know where you are coming from and agree with that concept entirely, so don't get too depressed about this "complicated" Duck ICE...I have had the simple boats and am happy to give the opposite end of the spectrum a go for a change ...but the good news is, that I am sure that our Duck will make an excellent
expedition ship.

Well here are pics of our new Ice-strengthened ketch-rig, steel, motor-sailor launched in Zhuhai China on July 17th...40,000 man hours? - 2 years- to date and still about four months work in the water before it is finnished later this year. Then we will step the two masts shipped from Allyacht in Australia.

   The hull was heavily reinforced for being frozen into ice. Note these "teeth" that hopefully will protect the prop and rudder.

   Bill has wanted a red hull for a long time so I'm sure was happy when Don & Margie chose red. It looks fine!

April 09 is the 220 year Aniversary of Mutiny on the I am going to re-sail Bligh's 4000 mile open boat voyage from Tonga to Kupang in a 23ft timber open row/sail Boat with a few crew, so ICE will stay in the Philippines till that is completed then we head east and north.

Yes we will update our web site before the end of the year and the Doco of my world record Gyro flight round Australia has just been finished and will screen around the world in the TWI Hi5 adventure series.
